Core ideas

What an alert can watch

Every alert is one of a handful of kinds. Pick the one that matches the thing you actually want to be told about.

Price

  • Price — a level crossed, or a move of a certain size.
  • Level approach — the price against a Greek wall. Either gets near it, so you hear about it before it happens, or crosses it: above the wall is the positive side, below it the negative side, and you can ask for one direction or either. A crossing follows the wall, which moves as the chain does; to watch a fixed price be crossed, use Price instead.
  • Contract price — the premium of one specific option, rather than the stock.

Dealer exposure

  • Greek exposure move — everything about a Greek's dealer exposure lives in this one alert. Pick the Greek, then pick what counts as a move:
    • Wall moves strike (the default) — the strike carrying the most dealer exposure moves to a different strike. This is the wall shifting, and it is the one most people mean. Any move, either direction, against the last reading.
    • Positive wall moves strike / Negative wall moves strike — the same thing, but following only one side. Every exposure chart marks two walls: purple is the biggest positive exposure, yellow the biggest negative. These follow just the one you pick, where Wall moves strike follows whichever is larger and can hand over between them.
    • Wall flips positive → negative (or the other way, or either way) — the Greek's net exposure crosses zero. This is the gamma flip, and it is a far rarer event than the wall moving.
    • Moves or flips — whichever happens first.

A flip never goes off just because it starts on that side. It needs a real crossing between two checks, so a "positive → negative" alert set while exposure is already negative waits for it to go positive and cross back.

Volume and flow

  • Volume spike — unusual volume on a contract.
  • Volume shift — where the volume is concentrated changing.
  • Options flow — large or unusual trades coming through.
  • Flow rank / top flow — a symbol entering or moving within the day's most-active list.

Technicals

  • Technicals — indicator conditions on the chart.

Two settings worth knowing

Fire once when the window opens. Most of these watch for a change, which means on a quiet morning they may not fire at all — and a workflow waiting on one never runs. Turning this on fires the alert once at the start of its window each day even with nothing changed, so a bound workflow gets that first look.

A narrower window. Alerts run through the session by default. Narrowing the window is how you say "only in the first hour", and it also stops a busy signal from firing all afternoon.

Set alerts up in the Alerts tab.
