It works on Windows and Mac. [Download it here](/studio#download).\n\nYou chat with an AI model in it, the same way you would in ChatGPT or Claude. For example: *\"every 5 minutes, check SPY\n  and message me on Discord if it gets near a big level\"*. Go to the [Atlas Studio page](/studio#download) and press **Download** for your\n   computer: **Windows** or **Mac**. Linux is coming soon.\n2. **Windows:** double click the file you downloaded. It installs in one click and\n   opens.\n   **Mac:** open the file and drag **Atlas Studio** into **Applications**.\n3. Open **Atlas Studio**.\n\nThe models Atlas needs to chat with Claude and ChatGPT come inside the app. You do\nnot need to install anything else or open a terminal.\n\n:::note\n**The first time on a Mac**, macOS may say it cannot check the app. Open **System\nSettings → Privacy & Security**, scroll down and press **Open Anyway**, then type\nyour Mac password. One app for Apple chips and Intel. |\n| Linux | Coming soon |\n\n## Keeping it up to date\n\nWhen a newer version is out, a box appears at the bottom of the left menu:\n**New update available**, with the version number and an **Update now** button.\n\n- **Windows:** press **Update now**. Atlas downloads it, closes and opens again on\n  the new version. That is all.\n- **Mac:** press **Update now**. When it is downloaded the box says\n  **Downloaded. Drag it into Applications**. Press **Show me**, then drag the new\n  Atlas Studio into your Applications folder, the same as when you installed it.\n\nAtlas checks for updates on its own when it opens and every few hours. Your web browser opens the Atlas sign in page. Sign in there (or create an\n   account).\n4. Go back to Atlas Studio. Closing the app does not sign you out.\n\n:::tip\nWhen you are signed in, the chat greets you by name (\"Hello Alex\"). If it only\nsays \"Hello there\", you are not signed in yet.\n:::\n\n## Signing out\n\nThere are two ways, and both do the same thing:\n\n- The **sign out** button next to your name at the bottom of the menu (the arrow\n  pointing out of a door).\n- **Profile → Danger Zone → Sign Out**.\n\nAtlas asks you to confirm first. Signing out removes this computer's access to\nyour account, so **projects on this computer stop running** until you sign in\nagain. Your chats and files stay on the computer.\n\n## Deleting your account\n\n**Profile → Danger Zone → Delete Account** opens the website, where you finish\ndeleting it. It uses a model you already have, like\nyour **Claude** or **ChatGPT** account. You connect it once.\n\nIf no model is connected yet, the chat shows a yellow bar at the top:\n*\"Claude needs credentials. Click **Model settings** in the left menu (or the link in the yellow bar).\n2. Click the model you have an account with, for example **Claude** or **ChatGPT**.\n3. Press **Sign in to Anthropic** (for Claude) or **Sign in to OpenAI** (for\n   ChatGPT).\n4. Your browser opens. Sign in there with your normal account.\n5. Come back to Atlas Studio. The model now shows **connected**.\n\n## The other way: paste a key\n\nIf you have an API key from the company instead, open the same model, paste it in\nthe box under **or paste a key**, and press **Save key**.\n\nYou can choose where the key is kept: **OS keychain** (your computer's own locked\nstorage, recommended) or **.env file** (a plain settings file).\n\n## Pick the model a new chat uses\n\nAt the top of Model settings, choose one under **Default model**. Type what you want\nand press Enter. It has a few buttons around it.\n\n## Sending\n\n- **Enter** sends your message.\n- **Shift + Enter** starts a new line without sending.\n- While the model is working, the send button turns into a **stop** button. Press\n  it to stop the answer.\n- If you send another message while it is still working, your message waits its\n  turn and goes as soon as the current answer finishes.\n\n## The buttons, left to right\n\n| Button | What it does |\n| --- | --- |\n| **+** | Attach files. See below. |\n| **Project name** | Shows which project this chat is in. Click it to chat about a different project. |\n| **Low / Medium / High / Max** | How hard the model thinks. Higher is slower but more careful. Changing it starts a fresh chat. |\n| **Model name** | Which model is answering. Click it to [change the model](#studio-change-model). |\n| **Arrow** | Send. |\n\n## Attaching files and pictures\n\nThere are three ways:\n\n1. Press **+** and choose files.\n2. **Paste** a picture or screenshot straight into the box.\n3. **Drag** files from your computer onto the box.\n\nPictures and PDFs show as small previews. Click one to see it bigger; from there\nyou can **Copy image** or **Save** it. Click the small **×** on a preview to remove\nit before you send. Pictures are shown to the model, so you can ask things like\n*\"what does this chart say?\"*.\n\n## Shortcuts inside the box\n\n**Type /** to see the model's own commands, for example one that shortens a long\nconversation. Click one to see\n  the details.\n- **\"Thinking\"** rows hold the model's working. Click one to open it and carry on.\n\n- The chat you are in is highlighted.\n- A chat that is **still working** gently flashes, so you can see it at a glance.\n- The small circle arrow next to **Recents** refreshes the list.\n\n**Right click** a chat in Recents for two choices:\n\n![Right click a recent chat to open or delete it](/studio/docs/studio-recents-menu.png)\n\n- **Open**\n- **Delete**. This deletes it straight away, with no second question.\n\n## Every chat: Chat Sessions\n\nRecents only shows the latest ones. Allow this?** It says what the model wants to do, with\nbuttons such as **Allow once** or **Always allow**.\n\n- Press one of the allow buttons to let it go ahead.\n- Press **Cancel**, press Esc or click outside the window to say **no**. The model\n  is told you refused and carries on without it.\n\n:::tip\nTurn it on while you are getting to know Atlas, and off once you trust how it\nworks. One model, the **Router**, reads\nyour message and hands parts of the job to the others, the **members**. Each\nmember can have its own job, like \"check every number\" or \"write the summary\".\n\nFirst make a group in Model settings. See [Make a model group](#studio-model-groups).\n\n## Using it\n\n1. Click the model name in the chat box and pick your group (it is listed by its\n   name, with a people icon).\n2. Type your message as normal. The Router decides who does what.\n\nA row of tabs shows at the top of the chat:\n\n- **Everyone** shows the whole conversation.\n- **Router** shows only the Router.\n- **One tab per member** shows only what that member did.\n\nWhen the Router hands work to a member, you see a line like\n**Router → Numbers**. The Router's messages have a blue frame and the members'\nhave a green one, each with the name on top.\n\n## Talking to one member\n\nOpen a member's tab and type there. Your message goes to that member only. The\nRouter still sees it.\n\n:::note\nGroup chats are listed first under Recents, as one row. See [Ask before acting](#studio-ask-first). |\n| **Use the model's computer use tool** | Only matters for a model you added with a key. Leave it off unless you know you need it. |\n\nOn Windows there is one more switch, **Keep the screen on after Remote Desktop**.\nTurn it on if you reach this computer through Remote Desktop and want Atlas to\nkeep working when you disconnect.\n\n## One row per model\n\nEach row shows the model and a tag on the right:\n\n| Tag | Means |\n| --- | --- |\n| **connected** | You signed in. Ready to use. |\n| **key set** | You pasted a key. Ready to use. |\n| **not set up** | Not connected yet. |\n\nClick a row to open it:\n\n![A model row opened: sign in, paste a key, or disconnect](/studio/docs/studio-model-row.png)\n\n- **Sign in to Anthropic / OpenAI / xAI** opens your browser so you can sign in with\n  your normal account. Once connected it says **Reconnect** instead.\n- **or paste a key** lets you use an API key instead. Choose **OS keychain** or\n  **.env file**, then **Save key**.\n- **Disconnect** removes the sign in or key from this computer.\n\n**Grok** needs one extra step the first time: press **Install Grok**, wait for it\nto finish, then sign in.\n\n:::note\nSigning in to a model does not switch your current chat to it. Atlas uses one of two free programs to\ndo it: **Ollama** or **LM Studio**.\n\nOpen **Model settings** and click **Models on this computer**.\n\n![Models on this computer: your hardware, the programs, and the models you have](/studio/docs/studio-local-models.png)\n\n## Step 1: get Ollama or LM Studio\n\nAt the top you see what your computer has (memory, processor, graphics card). Below\nthat are two cards, **Ollama** and **LM Studio**:\n\n- **Install** puts it on your computer for you.\n- **Start** turns it on, if it is installed but not running.\n- **running** means it is ready.\n\n## Step 2: get a model\n\nType a model name under **Get a model** and press **Fetch**, or pick one from the\n**Or pick one** list. Not sure? **llama3.1:8b** is a good place to start, and\n**llama3.2:3b** is small and quick.\n\nBefore you download, Atlas tells you how big it is and how well it will run on\nyour computer. **Fetch** then does everything for you: downloads it, sizes it for\nyour computer, tests it and adds it to the chat's model list.\n\n## Will it run well?\n\nEach model shows a coloured tag:\n\n| Colour | Means |\n| --- | --- |\n| **Green** | Runs well here. |\n| **Amber** | Runs, but slowly. |\n| **Grey** | Too big for this computer. |\n\n## Other buttons\n\n- **Use up to ...%** is a slider for how much of your computer a model may use.\n  Lower it if your computer gets slow while a model is answering.\n- **Instructions** gives a model standing orders it follows in every chat, for\n  example *\"always answer in short bullet points\"*.\n- **The bin** removes a model to free up space (Ollama only).\n- **Look again** re-checks your computer, for example after installing Ollama.\n\n## Using it\n\nYour downloaded model now shows in the chat's model list by its name. Pick it like\nany other. You can bring any of it back. |\n\nEach memory shows what **kind** it is (like **Preference** or **Fact**), which\n**project** it belongs to (if any), and **how long it has left** before it fades.\nMemories you use often stay; ones you never use fade away on their own.\n\n## Where memories come from\n\n1. **From your chats.** Atlas reads your recent conversations and picks out what is\n   worth keeping. Choose how often with the **Learn daily / weekly / monthly**\n   menu, or press **Learn now**. **Never learn** turns this off.\n2. **From you.** Press **New memory** and type it. See\n   [Add, change and forget](#studio-memory-manage).\n\n**Model: ...** says which model does the reading. Click it to choose another.\n\n## The map\n\nPress **Map** to see your memories as dots, grouped by kind. Bigger dots are more\nimportant. Hover a dot to read it, click it to open it.
